Apple Cinnamon Oatmeal

This is how I make my favorite bowl of oatmeal.

  • 1/3 cup regular oats
  • 2/3 cup water
  • 1/2 chopped apple
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon (I like Saigon’s Cinnamon)
  • 1/2 T brown sugar
  • 1 tsp ground flax seed (Bob’s Red Mill, golden flax seeds)
  1. Chop 1/2 of any type of apple.
  2. In a small sauce pan, combine the oats, water, and cinnamon.
  3. Cook and stir for 5-10 minutes.
  4. Mix in flax seeds or sprinkle on top.

I like to top my cooked oatmeal with more cinnamon, peanut butter, almond butter, sliced almonds, granola, or extra flax. On occasion I sub out the apple for 1/2 of a banana. This is best when cut up into small pieces and mixed in well.
